Tradition sums up the 168 year business legacy that has passed through four generations of Dickson family members.
In 1841, two Welsh immigrants opened an apothecary shop in the rural township of Shreveport.  In its earliest days, the business supplied firearms and ammunition to the pioneering farmers, soldiers, and lawmen.  Early ads document the fledgling company as selling muzzleloaders, shotguns, and derringers, along with everything else the pioneer was likely to need to survive in a frontier town: quinine to fight malaria, mustard to make plasters, and ammunition to fight varmints, scoundrels, and scallywags.

Today the tradition continues.  Sports South, LLC. meets the challenges set forth by its founding fathers, providing the right product at the right price and at the right time. A hallmark of any great business is the names with which it is associated. Colt, Beretta, Smith & Wesson, Remington, and Winchester are just a few of the quality products distributed by Sports South, LLC.

The sons of Markham Allen Dickson -- Skipper, Mark, and Paul -- work with their father in the daily performance of a tradition that spans more than a century. Today, there are two distribution centers; Sports South, LLC, representing the sporting goods industry, and Morris & Dickson Co., LLC, representing the pharmaceutical industry. Hard work, education, and hands-on involvement, along with the assured well-being and livelihood of hundreds of employees, reinforce the company's dedication to its origin.
